Comarch Advances Autonomous Networks in Africa: OSS Transformation Pilot Launched with Hatif Libya and Makman Technology Consulting

Comarch, Makman Technology Consulting, and Hatif Libya have officially launched the pilot phase of an OSS Transformation Program for Hatif Libya, marking a significant step forward in advancing autonomous network capabilities across North Africa.

The kick-off ceremony took place at Comarch’s headquarters in Kraków, gathering executives and project teams from all three companies to celebrate the start of this strategic initiative.

This milestone follows the strategic collaboration agreement signed between Comarch and Makman earlier this year, officially announced during TM Forum’s DTW in Copenhagen in June. After months of joint discussions with Libya’s leading telecom operator, the three partners now move into the execution phase, bringing to life a shared vision of digital, AI-driven network transformation in the region.

Building the Foundation for Autonomous Networks

During the pilot phase, Makman Technology Consulting, acting as Hatif Libya’s transformation partner, will lead the definition of the overall transformation roadmap and operational model for autonomous networks. Leveraging its TM Forum®-based transformation frameworks, AIOps expertise, and consulting methodologies, Makman will ensure alignment between business objectives, technology execution, and operational excellence.

Makman’s role extends beyond project management - it is the strategic catalyst enabling the Zero-Touch transformation, responsible for integrating AI-readiness, data governance, and automation design into Hatif’s long-term evolution roadmap. Through this leadership, Makman will help bridge strategy and execution, ensuring that the collaboration between Comarch’s software suite and Hatif’s operational teams results in measurable and sustainable outcomes.

Comarch, in turn, will provide its proven Operations Support Systems (OSS), including Service Order Management, Service Inventory, and Performance Management, to simplify and automate network operations, reduce fragmentation, and improve service reliability and cost efficiency.

The joint project aims to set the foundation for autonomous, AI-powered network operations in Libya, enabling faster service delivery, enhanced performance visibility, and lower operational costs.

Mr. Ahmed Mohamed Mahmod Jaafer, CEO of Hatif Libya, says: “We believe in step-by-step transformation. Change cannot happen all at once, but it shouldn’t stop us from making bold moves that bring real value to our company and our market. With the engagement of our partners and the technology they bring, we are confident that this initiative will succeed.”

Mr. Luqman Shantal, CEO of Makman Technology Consulting, adds: “It is a great responsibility and privilege to co-design this transformation journey together with Comarch and Hatif. Our goal is to combine our experience in telecom strategy and operations with Comarch’s advanced software platforms to deliver tangible progress for Libya’s telecom ecosystem.”

Paweł Workiewicz, Chief Commercial Officer at the Telecommunications Division at Comarch emphasizes: “There is no way back from AI-driven automation. Every telecom operator will move in this direction but success depends on solid foundations, clear roadmaps, and tools that enable transparent execution. Comarch’s mission is to guide operators on this journey toward higher levels of autonomy and efficiency.”

Szymon Uczciwek, VP for Growth & Strategy, MEA Region at the Telecommunications Division at Comarch comments: “This project is just the beginning of our successful cooperation in North Africa. The Libyan telecom market has a strong demand for improved quality and reliability of services. Through this pilot, we aim to demonstrate that end users can experience better connectivity while Hatif Libya can achieve substantial operational savings through AI-driven automation.”
